The Honors Program
at American River College


Program Benefits

Successful completion of the Honors Program requires 15 units of Honors-designated coursework (courses numbered from 480 to 489) with a G.P.A. of 3.25 or better in those courses.  Additionally, students may take one or more Honors courses without formal participation in the Program, but will not receive the benefits available to Program graduates.

Students who fulfill the completion requirements receive several benefits, including
:
  • Enhanced transfer opportunities at partner universities, including UCI, UCR, and SDSU (pending agreements with UCLA and UC Berkeley)--Click here for a complete list of transfer partners.
  • Transcript notation as Honors Program graduate
  • Workshops discussing transfer applications and academic success
  • Opportunities to participate in student research conferences and present original work
  • Recognition at special events and ceremonies
