The ARC Learning Resource Center (LRC) is a well-equipped, professionally staffed facility that offers students a personal approach to academic success through independent study, individualized tutoring and alternative modes of instruction. 

Located at the southeast side of the campus, across from the Physical Education area, the center provides academic services, along with the latest in high-technology equipment.

  • Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

  • Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.


Summer Hours

LeafAthlete Academic Assistance

Athlete Academic Assistance supports students in balancing their academic and athletic demands by providing academic and career planning and advising for individual skills development programs.  The monitoring of eligibility is a continuing process and is an essential part of the Athlete Academic Assistance Center at ARC.

LeafThe Beacon Program

The Beacon Program also provides group tutoring for students who need academic assistance outside the classroom.  Many courses at ARC have Beacon tutoring available.  Tutors are instructor-selected and have successfully completed the course for which they are tutoring.  Visit the Beacon website for information.

LeafComputer Lab

Many classes are based on the use of the computer.  College computer classes supported by the LRC range from English to Math to Computer Graphics, as well as many others.  Students with special needs will find computers designed to help them with class work.  Software will enlarge text for low-vision students, translate text to speech, and also allow students to dictate work into a word processor.

LeafEnglish as a Second Language (ESL)

English as a Second Language (ESL) is designed for students who are non-native speakers of English.  Students can earn units while working on their own individual needs in areas such as:

  • Basic Grammar

  • Reading and Writing

  • Listening Comprehension

  • Accent Reduction

The Goal of the ESL program is to help students develop habits and skills that will make them successful college students.

LeafReading Across the Disciplines (RAD)

Reading Across the Disciplines (RAD) enables students to be successful in specific classes such as Anthropology, History, Political Science, Economics---and more.  Learn to:

  • Prepare for tests

  • Decipher jargon & graphics

  • Interpret difficult text

  • Develop outlines

LeafTutorial Center

The Tutorial Center is a specialized service of the LRC.  The program provides individualized and group tutoring for students who need academic assistance outside the classroom.  Tutoring is conducted by instructor-approved student tutors, and this service is free to any ARC student.  Students who demonstrated proficiency in a specific subject are encouraged to apply to become a tutor at the center.  Tutors are salaried and must complete a tutor training course to comply with the state guidelines for tutoring in the community college. LeafWriting Across the Curriculum (WAC)

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) provides individual appointments with instructors and writing consultants to students working on writing assignments for any class offered on campus.  Help is also provided for students writing personal statements for scholarships and college transfer.  The program is open all terms with flexible enrollment deadlines. LeafWriting Center

The Writing Center is designed to complement rather than duplicate classroom instruction in English.  Attention is focused on the individual needs of each student.  Students in the Writing Center can choose from a large variety of individualized programs designed to strengthen their writing skills.  Some of these modules include:
