Counseling

Professional counseling and guidance services are available to all students and prospective students of ARC. Counselors assist students with exploring career, educational, and personal goals and planning a program of studies to fulfill the educational/course requirements to meet these goals.

As a new student, seeing a counselor is probably the most important thing you can do. Our counselors can help you find the right level of classes and assist you in designing an educational plan to help you meet your educational goal. Counselors can also direct you to ARC's many supportive services such as the Transfer Center, Career Center and Re-entry Center.

During your first semester a counselor can help you:

  • develop an educational plan
  • resolve problems you are having related to your success as a student
  • identify an educational and career goal
  • answer questions regarding your educational goal
  • choose classes appropriate for you
  • find resources that can help you meet your goal

You should continue to meet with a counselor often. We recommend you meet with a counselor at least once a semester.

Day and evening counseling services are available on both an appointment and a drop-in basis. For more information and/or to schedule a counseling appointment, contact the Counseling Center at (916) 484-8572. Counseling hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-8:00 pm and Friday 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
