American River College's art curriculum offers introductory and intermediate-level courses in a variety of art media, as well as courses in art appreciation and art history.

Digital Design & Painting, Graphic Design and Illustration, Multimedia, Web Graphics. Art New Media program information.

culinary arts/hospitality management
Chair: Brian Knirk
Preparation for a career in the food service industry, this program covers all phases of food service operation, including career assessment, sanitation, safety, equipment, food science, basic and intermediate culinary skills, purchasing, cost control, supervision, and restaurant management and production. The program includes courses and testing for certificates and diploma issued by the Educational Foundation of the National Restaurant Association. fashion
Chair: Bonnie Spencer
Two options are offered. The Apparel Design option prepares the student with those skills necessary to coordinate original design concepts with manufacturing and merchandising techniques. Apparel Merchandising provides training for jobs in fashion coordinating, promotion, visual presentation, management, merchandising, or ready-to-wear garments. Fashion program information.

interior design
Chair: Donald New
Preparation for entry-level employment or position advancement in the field of interior design, interior decoration and home furnishings, or for further study. Interior Design program information.

music/commercial music (general education/transfer)
Chair: Dyne Eifertsen
The programs offers a strong foundation in most aspects of music, as preparation for further study, including transfer to a four-year institution. Music history, theory, performance and applied study (instrumental, voice or keyboard) are offered. A program option is Commercial Music, with three possibilities: Business, Performance and Recording; Performance; and Recording.

theatre arts/film (general education/transfer)
Chair: Kathy Burleson
