In order for ARC to satisfy software license agreements, all users must be informed of, and agree to follow certain conditions. All users must agree to the following conditions to use any Computer Science & Information Technology Lab. All signs posted in the Computer Science & Information Technology Lab must be adhered to. No food, drink or children allowed in any Computer Science & Information Technology Lab. Directions must be followed when given by any lab assistant or instructor concerning use of equipment/facilities or student conduct. The current open lab schedule, posted inside the Computer Science & Information Technology Lab on the window of the office, must be followed. Students must not interrupt a class to ask to use a computer. Non-instructional use of the equipment and resources is not permitted. Including the installation of games or any other software not supported directly by the Computer Science & Information Technology Lab. Current enrollment in the Computer Science & Information Technology or Business Area class that corresponds with the software being used is necessary. A valid access code may be used for assigned purposes only. Sharing of any access codes with other students is not permitted. The following rules and restrictions concerning Internet connection must be followed, where applicable. Students must NOT:
Attempts by students to obtain, manipulate, delete or change the contents of another user's files, passwords, etc., are regarded as infractions of the January 1980 California Computer Crime Penal Code (Senate Bill No. 66). Attempts to 'break' the operating system constitute a felony under this law. A copy of this document is posted in the Computer Lab - Room 152. Software may not be copied, unless specified by the instructor e.g. CIS3 instructional software. Students who do not comply with these terms may face disciplinary measures including formal disciplinary actions from American River College, liability for all damages, attorney fees and court costs. Instructional Assistants supervise the computer labs, provide support services, and monitor the computers to assure they are used for legitimate instructional purposes; they are in charge of the labs. Directions given by Instructional Assistants concerning use of equipment and facilities must be observed. They will help if they can, but are NOT, however, full-time tutors. To expect one person to know the ins and outs of all the programs at American River College is an unreasonable expectation. If you need a tutor, please make arrangements with the Tutoring Center in the Learning Resource Center.
