'Messiah' stars ARC's 'Hidden' talent

This Valentine's Day, stay STD free

In honor of National Condom Day (which occurs synonymously with Valentine’s Day), The Care-a-Van, sponsored by the Sacramento County Department of Heath and Human Services, will be parked behind the River Cafe and e-Services today, offering free HIV/AIDS, gonorrhea, and chlamydia testing. Meanwhile, the American River College Health Center hands out condoms every day, although only two per day.
Los Rios fundraiser aids Mexican Teachers

Theater opens season with modern play

Two people in love lightly kiss on a quiet walk home. For most, such a moment is careless and quiet. But for two women, Callie and Sarah, it leads to uncertainty and violence. From the upcoming American River College (ARC) Theater's production of "Stop Kiss," this scene of tentative affection is sure to spark one's own feelings of love and the natural fears surrounding it.

Students, staff strut their arts at Kaneko

While most students are fretting over their upcoming finals, the Kaneko Gallery is hosting the fall salon art show. This show consisted of art from faculty and students. And is a well-known fundraiser for the Kaneko Gallery and the Pruner Scholarship Fund.

Life on her toes

Just 20 minutes before ballet class, Cinthia Conlon sits around in her leotard and tights waiting to start dancing. A ballerina since she was a little girl, "Kitty," as most people know her, talks joyfully about her goal of becoming a ballerina.

ARC alum Ed Walkinstik-Man-Alone dropped in the American River Current's newspaper room to check out old editions of the newspaper. Having graduated in 1976 with an Art and Sciences degree, he was a Current staff member from 1974 to 1976. Presently, Walkinstik-Man-Alone resides in Germany and makes his living as a musician and producer. He stated that he makes a trip out here every couple of years, but this time he wanted to show his wife, Kerstin, the newsroom and some of the articles that he wrote for the newspaper while a student here.
