Men's hoopsters lose their chance at Big 7 |

Even with a 24-point win over Sacramento City College in the last game of the season, the ARC Men’s Basketball team failed to make the Big 7 playoffs. It was a matter of the Beavers winning and other teams losing; the Beavers kept their half of the deal, but lost their berth by just one game. So much of the team’s focus had been on readying for the playoffs, Coach Mark Giorgi said, it feels like the season was cut short. The Beavers grabbed every offensive and defensive rebound, scored double digits points off of steals and they just intimidated the Panthers. If blocking the Panthers shots was a crime, ARC player Nelson Ekeh will be a wanted man. The Panthers got sympathy from ARC fan Elizabeth Harward. “They are losing so bad I feel sorry for them. Coach Mark Giorgi felt comfortable not starting his starting five. Fans cheered as the reserves took the floor. Both team shot so many bricks they had enough bricks to finish building The American River Theatre. 18:37 on the clock when Coach Giorgi called a timeout to have a pep talk with his players. He had enough; he put in two starters. The game became even more sloppy close to the end of the game; players started to foul harder and shoot more bricks.
