Clubs on parade in Liberal Arts Breezeway

On Feb. 22, fold-up tables lined the Liberal Arts Breezeway of ARC in celebration of the Inter-club Council’s monthly Club Day. About 15 clubs participated in the event, each giving out brochures describing their club’s goals.

“Club Day is an excellent opportunity for clubs to reach out to students on campus,” said Nancy Dziuba, president of ICC.

The ICC is a group designed to help organize clubs on campus and promote extracurricular activities

through club participation. Some of the clubs sold items such as hand-made buttons, cookies, and cupcakes. The Peace and Justice Club sold $1 bumper stickers, one displaying “fur is for animals.”

Vice President of the Peace and Justice Club Nathan Menard described their goal as a “fight for equality issues, domestically and worldwide.”

Other clubs participated as well, including Anime and Games Club, Latinos Unidos, Improv Club, LDSA

(Learning Disabled Student Association), and the GLBTQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning).

The GLBTQ, while providing coffee and donuts, also handed out a variety of pamphlets. HIV and safe sex pamphlets were among the most prevalent, along with information on same-sex marriage.

The ICC’s next event will be a barbeque on Thursday, March 1, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Grothie Grove on campus.
