Did you notice the Hondas parked in Rose Marks Quad last week? They were brought out by Carmichael Honda for a fundraiser to increase the ARC Foundations funds.

Executive Director Kirsten DuBray says American River College and Carmichael Honda worked together in this fundraiser because of the good association they have. They have hired ARC students and actively support ARC’s Automotive Technology program with their association with the Central Valley New Car Dealer’s Association.

“They are in our service area and it makes sense for ARC to outreach to the businesses in our community that

hire our students and support our programs. It is a-win win,” said DuBray.

Carmichael Honda donated $5,000 to the fundraiser, with the potential to expand and support with the college in the future. The ARC Foundation has a scholarship endowment in the amount of $75,000. This is a perpetual investment where funds aren’t spent annually, but instead they are used as a percentage of the annual interest to fund scholarship awards.

Todd Stamps of Carmichael Honda said for the first year, the fundraiser went well. It was good community relations and they were treated well. They are working on getting their .

name put in the stadium, as well as having the Oak Café cater the grand reopening of Carmichael Honda slated for early summer.

“The fundraiser was incredible and we are looking forward to next year,” said Stamps.

Even with a company as well known as Carmichael Honda, the college had to stipulate with them that to exhibit on campus requires approval. That is a safety measure for any businesses that may not be appropriate.

“For example, the Altria Group, which has Phillip Morris under its corporate umbrella,” said DuBray
