Ladies b-ball crushed
By Andre Pinedo, Staff Writer

In the first game of last Friday night's basketball double-header, the Lady Beavers were crushed by first place San Joaquin Delta at American River College.

No offense.  No defense.  No win.

The ARC ladies squad proved to be no match for the bigger faster Mustangs, losing by a whopping 46 points, 47-89.

"We were simply outran, out hustled

and we didn't box- out, said sophomore guard Stephanie Nelson of her teams performance.   ARC (5-14, 1-3), unable to generate any type of offense, shot poorly and turned the ball over countless times throughout the night.  They were out rebounded and absolutely dominated inside the paint. It was never even close.  S.J. Delta (22-3, 5-0) took the lead in the first minute of the game and never looked back.

Led by Delta's Necolia Simmons 20

points, the Mustangs scored at will, going ahead by 26 points at halftime 30-17.   Melissa Rice led ARC with 11 points and was the only player in double digits.

The Lady Beavers will be home again to face Santa Rosa Junior College on Feb. 02, at 8 p.m. in Hutchison Gym directly following the men's game. Among those in attendance were two-time U.S. gold medalist and former Sacramento Monarch Ruthie Bolton.
