Lady Beavers struggle

The Lady Beavers second half struggles came back to haunt them in the season finale Feb. 15, at American River College, as they let another close game slip through their fingers in the final minutes falling to cross-town rival Sacramento City College 55-51.

Despite their efforts, the American River College men’s basketball team couldn’t keep up with the proficient shooting of first-place Diablo Valley College Friday night, Feb. 9, at Hutchison Gym, falling 48-62.

Men's baseball gets into the swing of things

It's spring again, and that means baseball is back for the American River College men. Coming off a disappointing 2006 campaign in which the Beavers started out hot 14-5 ranked No. 4 in the Nor Cal Poll, they slid with the rain through the rest of the season, losing 9 one-run games and finished a substandard 16-26.

Big games call for big plays.   Just ask Jared Stigall.   The freshman guard made the biggest play of the season last Friday night, Jan. 19, at Hutchison Gym when he hit the game winning three-point shot with .01 seconds remaining, keeping the American River College men's basketball team in the hunt for a championship.

It was a game that started off quickly and for the ARC Lady Beavers, it was one in which the opponent controlled the tempo for the entire basketball game.

Walking into the volleyball game on Friday, 10 Nov, tension was in the air. The team was playing Sierra College. After the singing of the national anthem, there was an announcement: Three players of American River would be playing their last game that day. One of them was Aki Nakajima. She was most noticeable for wearing a blue jersey during the game while the others wore red.

Sweet, sweet revenge

American River College's football team was out for revenge, and the date couldn't be more appropriate. Their opponent: Oakland's Laney College, the team that ended the Beaver's perfect record in 2005. The occasion: ARC's first homecoming in 34 years.

Lady Beavers run Diablo Valley out of town

Despite massive pressure early on, the American River College Beavers faced off against the Diablo Valley College Vikings  and sent them home packing.
