Shaping Lives
Building Futures

The ARC Foundation generates and manages resources that support the students, faculty and staff of American River College while promoting and connecting ARC with the community.

The American River College Foundation, an affiliate of the Los Rios Foundation, is a California nonprofit, public benefit Corporation and is tax-exempt as provided by IRS Sec. 501 c. 3.  Organized in 1976, the ARC Foundation provides scholarships, supports development of improved methods of instruction, updates classroom and lab equipment, provides needed materials for the college, and supports student success programs, specifically:

  • To raise funds and encourage grants of property, works of art, historical papers and documents, tools and equipment, and other gifts to the college.

  • To establish scholarships, grants, and other assistance for students attending the college.

A volunteer Board of Directors, made up of community members, governs the foundation, each member bringing with them a diverse background. This varied combination of members is one of the foremost strengths of the foundation. Board members serve a three-year term and meet every other month throughout the year.

American River College is regarded as one of the most successful and innovative community colleges in California.  Among the ten largest community colleges in the state, ARC transfers more students to four-year universities than any other community college in Northern California.

Why a Foundation?

Although there is state support for the college, it is not enough to adequately fund the educational excellence that American River College strives to maintain and enhance..

With this in mind, the American River College Foundation supports the college and its goal of excellence by building and promoting essential partnerships between the college and community. By seeking individual and corporate involvement from the community, we place ourselves in a winning situation for all. Successful employees are developed from top-notch programs and those successful people become part of a community workforce that builds thriving businesses.

Together, American River College and the American River College Foundation support students to help them reach their educational goals and career dreams.
