Help Build Great Futures

At American River College, our students are the center of everything we do. Our strong mission statement reflects our commitment to changing lives. Because of our open admissions policy, we are the first chance for some, a second chance for many, and for others perhaps the only chance to reach their educational goals--at a fraction of the cost of other colleges and universities.

  • Scholarships. While fees at ARC are less than those at state and private universities, the cost of books, supplies, and transportation are essentially the same. Because so many students rely on scholarships to help them pursue their academic goals, the greatest share of funding administered by the Foundation is in the form of scholarships. Scholarships provide funds to ARC students who are continuing for their second year or transferring to a four-year institution.  A named scholarship can be created for $500 a year.  The donor can select the criteria and meet the student recipient(s) at our annual awards ceremony. Click here for more information.

  • Special Projects. The other major focus of Foundation support is for projects that enhance educational programs and services, and that cannot be funded through state dollars. Most of these projects are funded through unrestricted (undesignated) dollars, which we call "Where the Need Is Greatest."

Unrestricted gifts may be used where the need is greatest, as determined with involvement of the various departments, deans, and the college president.  A gift that is designated for a particular program, department, campaign, project, scholarship fund, or for the general endowment will be applied only to the area specified by the donor.

Realizing that every gift has a unique motive, meaning, and purpose, ARC Foundation staff are available to work with you on an individual basis to answer your questions about gifts to unrestricted or designated fundraising initiatives, or the establishment of a specialized fund that can have a lasting impact upon the future of education at ARC.
