Questions for Faculty
Where is the library?
The library is now located in the portable village near Davies Hall. See campus map for directions.
How long will the library be in portables?
The library will operate out of the portable beginning in Spring 2009 and continuing through Summer 2010. The newly renovated library is scheduled to open in Fall 2010.
Have the library's hours changed?
Yes, although only slightly. The library will close earlier than normal. We will be closing at 9:00pm Monday-Thusday and at 5:00pm on Friday. All other
hours remain unchanged.
Where can I get my Access Card?
The library no longer issues Access Cards. To get an Access Card, go to the Student Life Center in the Cafeteria or the Learning Resource Center.
Do the librarians still offer research appointments
Yes, research appointments are offered as usual. Request an appointment using the Research Appointment link found on the library homepage.
How much study space is available?
Study space is limited. The library portables will have only one fourth the seating as the old library. Both the Reference and Circulation portables will have some seating for study space. There is one group study room in the Portable 605.
Where are the books?
The books are now located in two storage areas, neither of which is open to the public.
Ebooks are also available and can be accessed on or off campus.
How do I get a book from the storage facility?
ARC books can be requested using the Request feature in the library catalog. See How to Request Library Material for detailed instructions.
When the book arrives it will be placed on the holdshelf under your name. Please allow 1-2 hours before the item is ready for pickup. For more information please see a librarian.
Are the DVDs still accessible?
Yes, the DVD collection is located in Portable 603 and is available for browsing.
Are the periodicals still available?
Print Collection: there will be a small collection of the latest issues of popular magazines in Portable 603. All other periodicals will be in storage and will need to be requested by completing a form and submitting it to the Circulation desk. Go to Portable 603 for more assistance.
Online: many periodicals are available online through the library's research databases. The research databases can be accessed both on and off campus.
Is the Reserve Collection still available?
Yes, the Reserve Collection is still located at the Circulation Desk. Come to Portable 603 and request the item at the desk. Please bring the item's call number with you. You can search for reserves using the Library Catalog.
Will the library still offer orientations?
Yes, orientations will be offered as usual. Submit your request using the request form under the faculty link on the library website. Orientations will be held in Portable 605. Alternatively, a librarian can be dispatched to your classroom. We also have access to Room 104 in the LRC.
Can I still put material on reserve for my students?
Yes, the reserve collection is still available for students. There are no changes aside from the fact that reserves are now located in Portable 603. Please direct questions about reserves to Lino Delgadillo.
