The Natural Resources Department within the
Technical/Educational Division has a new major and certificate in Natural Resources that recognizes the change in emphasis in the natural resources job market. The major and certificate reflect the increased interest of students and the public in natural resource issues. The curriculum provides a broad foundation for a wide range of career choices and continuing education for students who desire to transfer to other institutions to complete their undergraduate work in natural resources. The 20-unit core curriculum for both the major and the certificate provide the minimum education qualifications for students wishing to enter the job market in natural resources related technical jobs in both the state and federal government after two years of Higher Education.
The heart of the degree
program is the recognized need for the student to take a wide range of
academic training. Students will take various course offerings in
Biological Sciences, Computer Information Sciences, and Physical Sciences
along with preparation in verbal and written communicative skills.
The Natural Resources
Department offers course work that prepares the Natural Resources Major
and the general education student to be citizens with a greater
appreciation and understanding of our natural resources, and the current
human threats to those resources.
