Here you will find tips and suggestions you will need to successfully use our services. This list will constantly be added to, so keep watching!! I hope you find them useful.
Submitting Hardcopy
When submitting hardcopy to our department for reproduction, be sure to follow these guidelines:
A Printing Requisition form must accompany your work. Keep the bottom copy for your records.
Use clean white bond paper. Never use erasable bond paper.
Line drawing and signatures must be done in dark blue or black ink.
Typed copy must be black on white paper.
Leave at least 3/8" margin on all four sides.
Paste up work must be neat, straight on paper and taped down very securely
Do not use printed material on colored paper.
Multiple page jobs must be numbered consecutively. You can do so by writing the numbers on the back if need be.
Submit a single sided sheet for each page.
Proof read all material prior to submitting.
Some reduction capability is available. Please consult with our operator if this is something you will need.
Remove all staples and paper clips prior to submitting.
Remove perforated margins from computer paper.
Space out the due dates on your jobs. While we applaud the preparation and work on your part, there are things that will help us get your work done on time.
Example:
Your syllabus through final exam should not be due on the first day of class. The reason for this is that during this peak time of our year, we will be overwhelmed. This is a given. So what our operator's end up doing is completing what looks like your syllabus first and everything else second...all at their discretion.
Instead, do this:
due the week before the first day of class.
due the week before the first day of class.
due the week that school starts.
due the second week of school.
due much later.
You get the idea.
Submitting Digital Files
Acceptable File Formats
When submitting jobs online, please make every effort to send us Adobe Acrobat files or PDF's. When you create PDF's from your files, it increases the likelyhood that your job will come out exactly the way you intended it to look. As long as your fonts are embedded, your file will look the same on our screen and printer as it does on yours.
Here is the complete list of acceptable file formats:
When submitting digital files either through our online job submission or at our counter on a disc for reproduction, be sure to follow these guidelines:
If a file will not print correctly to your printer, it will probably not print correctly on ours. Always open and test your files out before sending them to us.
When possible, please submit Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files.
Try to use standard Windows fonts. If you do not, you will either need to embed or supply them.
The industry standard resolution when scanning is 300 dpi when the image is at 100% in your document. Meaning, don't scan something and then stretch it out. You will lose image quality this way.
The Exchange Server that processes our email will only allow files that are smaller than 3 Mb to be sent. It is the same server processing our online requests, and that is why we are capped at 3 Mb.
If your file(s) is just a tad bit larger, try using a compression program like WinZip to package up your files.
