The American River College Beavers won
their first conference game of the season on the road
against College of the Siskiyous. The Beavers scored on
their opening drive of the game on an 11 yard pass to Carey
Johnson from Jared Gavard. The strong start by ARC gave the
entire team the confidence that had lacked in the previous
two games to persist throughout the rest of the game. The
Beaver offense was lead by American River College
record-setting performance of sophomore quarterback Jared
Gavard 29 of 45 for 418 yards, with 3 touchdown passes.
Jared connected with a total of seven different receivers.
Mike Olsen lead the way with 7 catches 165 yards and 1
touchdown. Ladaun “LA” Hudson also completed the game with 7
catches 122 yards and 1 touchdown. The Beaver defense was
sparked by a 94 yard interception return for touchdown by
sophomore strong safety Willie Ross. Mike Willis was superb
in the middle as he added maturity and awareness as the
middle linebacker. The Beavers play their last game of the
regular season on November 14th as they host
cross-town rival Sacramento City College.

routed the Sierra College Wolverines 45-34. The Wolverines
scored 14 points quick in the first quarter. A blocked punt
by Special Teams Player of the Week Jaron Jones sparked a
comeback that shifted momentum to the Beavers and it never
left. Once again the Beaver offense played a superb game,
accumulating 544 total yards. Sophomore quarterback Jared
Gavard threw for 403 yards (28 for 37 with 3 touchdowns).
Ladaun Hudson, Steve Roberts, and Mike Dutra all caught
touchdown passes. Freshman Cameron Williams had a breakout
game at receiver, catching 8 balls for 113 yards. ARC’s
ground game was evenly distributed to Mike Dutra (11
carries, 61 yards) and Carnell Davis (13 carries 62 yards).
The Beaver defense fought hard against the ground-and-pound
style of Sierra’s run-oriented offense. Sophomore Ryan
Davis, Defensive Player of the Week, contributed 9 total
tackles and a forced fumble. Freshmen Andrew Lindner added 6
tackles and an interception at outside linebacker. The
Beavers need to stay focused as they travel down the coast
to challenge
Monterey

College.

second consecutive victory, outlasting the Rams 42-7. The
victory came as a result of a total-team effort.
American
River College
received a spark on special teams as sophomore defensive
lineman Harrison Wilfley ran a fake punt 68 yards for a
touchdown. The offense was led by a punishing ground attack.
There were also blocked punts and field goals that put the
Beavers in great field position. Carey Johnson had 9 carries
for 64 yards. Mike Dutra rushed 11 times and produced 46
yards and 3 touchdowns. The Beavers totaled 467 yards of
offense, most coming in the first half. After giving up a
score on the second play of scrimmage, the Beavers dammed up
the Rams offense and would not allow a second score. It was
a complete defensive effort with a highlighted interception
by Alex Hines (sophomore) with a 50 yard return. The Beavers
will face a tough challenge next week for their second home
game versus
