ASSISTANT COACHING STAFF BIOS
Josh
Poteracke- Defensive Coordinator
Josh Poteracke is in his third year of
coaching at American River and his 7th overall. Coach Poteracke
coached varsity football and track at Petaluma High School for 4
years. In college, Coach Poteracke played safety and outside
linebacker for UC. Davis in 2000 and 2001. The Aggies finished 3rd
in the nation both years with a record of 22-4 with 12 wins in 2000.
Prior to that he was a 2 year starter at Santa Rosa JC. Throughout
college he also competed in track and field and he still competes in
long jump. Coach Poteracke graduated from CSU, Sacramento where he
completed his master’s degree at in Kinesiology with an emphasis in
strength and conditioning.
Todd
Denhalter- Special Teams Coordinator
This is Coach Denhalter’s first season
with ARC. He graduated from Saugus H.S. in Saugus, CA in 1980 where
he was a two-sport athlete, competing in football, swimming and
diving. He played football his junior year where he averaging 41
yards per punt as a receiver and punter.
He coached Pop Warner football for 4
years before moving to the varsity level at Rio Linda High School
coaching the Receivers, Quarterbacks, Outside Linebackers, Defensive
Backs and the Punters/Kickers. During his 6 years at the varsity he
coached 2 all CVC Receivers, 1 All CVC Linebacker and 1 Honorable
Mention as a Punter. In 2004 Rio Linda won the CVC and CIF Section
Championship for Div III.
Coach Denhalter was the Head Coach for
the Center High School JR Cougar Midgets with a 10-0 season and
runners up in the State Championship in 2005. In 2006 he was
Offensive and Defensive line coach, Punters/Kickers coach as well as
the Offensive Coordinator for the Center HS freshman football team.
In 2007 became the Junior Varsity Head Coach and recorded an 8-2
overall record, and a 5-0 league record. He coached the
Quarterbacks, Defensive Backs, Punters/Kickers, as well as being the
Offensive Coordinator.
He is married to Laurie Denhalter and
they have 5 children 3 of which played football all 4 years of High
School as well as Pop Warner. Coach Denhalter says, “I am very
Blessed to be able to coach at the Junior College Level as the
Special Teams Coordinator, Kickers and Punters Coach.”
Jon
Walker- Offensive Line/Recruiting Coordinator
Jon is entering his 3rd season as an
assistant coach for the Beavers. This will be his 10th year coaching
football, where he has specialized in offensive line play. Jon began
his football career as an All-Metro Center at Bella Vista High
School graduating in 1994. He went on to play at the University of
San Diego from 1994-1996. At Center he received All Pioneer
Conference honors in the 1995 and 1996 seasons. Jon was a member of
the USD football team that helped transitioned the Toreros into a
top 25 Div I-AA program. This is also Jon’s 2nd season as recruiting
coordinator at ARC. He enjoys spending time getting to know high
school student-athletes helping them in there goals of playing
college football. Outside of ARC Jon works for Science Adventures
where he runs a science day camp for children at Sacramento State.
He enjoys golfing and fishing in the off season.
Brandon Babcock -Linebackers
Coach Brandon Babcock enters his first
year of coaching at American River and 2nd over all after eleven
years experience as a player. He attended El Dorado High School in
Placerville, California. He graduated from El Dorado. He continued
his education at American River and graduated with an AA degree in
Liberal Arts while playing football under coach Haflich in the 2003
and 2004 seasons. Coach Babcock received a scholarship to McPherson
College in McPherson Kansas. He played two years for McPherson while
earning his BS degree in Physical Education. In both of his 2 years
he received NAIA Academic All American Award honors and in his
senior year he was awarded Honorable Mention All Conference as a
defensive end. Coach Babcock is currently attending CSU, Sacramento
where he is working towards his master’s degree in Kinesiology with
an emphasis in strength and conditioning.
Greg
Meacham - Wide Receivers
This is Coach Meacham’s first year as
Wide Receiver Coach at American River College. He attended Santa
Clara University and graduated in 1978 with a Bachelors Degree in
Marketing. He played DB and WR at Santa Clara 1974-1978.
Coach Meacham has 13 years coaching
experience in SoCal and NorCal. The last 6 years he served as
position coach at both Varsity and JV Levels in various roles for
WRs, RBs, DBs. and Special Teams at Woodcreek, Lincoln and Whitney
High Schools. He also served as Offensive Coordinator at Woodcreek
and Whitney HS .
He resides in Roseville, CA with Wife
–Athena, sons Matthew, 21 and Jonathan, 19.
Marc
Rubalcaba – Running Backs
Coach Rubalcaba enters his first year of
coaching for the American River Beavers. Marc graduated from CSU,
Fresno in the spring of 2008. In the fall of 2008 coach Rubalcaba
will start his Master’s program at CSU, Sacramento in Kinesiology.
Coach Rubalcaba attended and played football for San Joaquin Delta
College and received all League-Linebacker in 2004. After Delta, he
received a partial scholarship to attend University of Redlands
where he played one year at outside linebacker. Following Redlands,
he continued his degree at Fresno State where he student coached for
the Bulldogs for 1½ years. After graduating with his master’s
degree, Coach Rubalcaba plans on being a head football coach at a 4
year university. |
