State Championships

Saving the best for last, the Beavers turned in their best performance of the season to place second on the 4-mile course at Woodward Park in Fresno.  ARC was able to pass Diablo Valley, the NorCal winner, and Hartnell to finish behind Los Angeles Trade Tech.  Cristian Morinico led the Beavers with an 11th place finish, coming in at 20:57.  Ken Parnow finished 19th at 21:15.  Both Morinico and Parnow are freshmen.  Sophomores Jason Prado (21:36) and Jake Boeger (21:37) placed 36th and 39th, respectively, in the field of almost 190 runners.  The other ARC runners who helped the team take second overall were freshmen Jason Engler (65th place in a time of 21:57) and Paul Magletti (92nd, 22:17).

NorCal Championships

The Beavers turned in a strong performance at the 96-man meet at Toro Park in Salinas. “The guys ran great,” said head coach Rick Anderson.  “We finished third, but at least we made the top two teams sweat a little.”  Only six points separated first and third place.  Three ARC runners earned All-NorCal honors by virtue of finishing in the top 14:  Cristian Morinico (sixth place in a time of 20:46), Jason Engler (11th, 21:14), and right behind him was Ken Parnow (12th, 21:15).  The Beavers’ squad was rounded out by Jason Prado (20th, 21:37), Jake Boeger (21st, 21:39), Paul Magaletti (26th, 21:52), and Tim Martin (37th, 22:17).

Big 7 Conference Meet

The Beavers took second place behind Diablo Valley on the demanding 4-mile course at Beale’s Point in Folsom.  ARC finished only 12 points behind the Vikings, who are ranked fourth in the state polls.  One of the North’s premier runners, Butte’s Oscar Uribe, headed the field with a 5:01 mark, and the next three finishers were from Diablo Valley.  ARC placed five runners in the top 14, meaning they earned all-conference honors.  Ken Parnow came in fifth place with a time of 21:09 to lead the Beavers’ all-Big 7 runners.  He was followed by Jason Engler (6th place in 21:14), Cristian Morinico (8th, 21:26), Jake Boeger (10th, 21:40), and Paul Magaletti (14th, 21:50).  Just missing the cut were ARC’s Jason Prado (placing 18th with a time of 22:20), Tim Martin (20th, 22:25), Vince Bardini (25th, 22:36), Ian Hecox (27th, 22:42), Travis Davis (29th, 22:47), Ranjeet Anand (34th, 23:27), Aaron Dilts (37th, 23:37), and Graeme Sadler (45th, 24:44).

Lou Vasquez Invitational

The Beavers, according to head coach Rick Anderson, are tired.  After a tough week of “double-secret” workouts and an 8-mile run the morning of the race, the men’s team captured fifth place out of 21 teams at the meet in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.  The Beavers were led by Cristian Morinico (time of 20:59), Ken Parnow (21:10), Jason Prado (21:41), Jake Boeger (21:45), and Tim Martin (22:01).

Golden West Invitational

After a long bus ride to Los Angeles, the Beavers were flat for the big state-wide event.  Cristian Morinico managed a 10th place individual finish with a time of 20:31, but ARC was off its usual torrid pace.  Ken Parnow was clocked in 21:11, followed by Tim Martin (21:44), Jake Boeger (21:59), and Jason Engler (22:04).

SEPTEMBER 17, 2005

3rd Annual Beaver Invitational

The Beavers dominated the competition by taking five of the top seven places and nine of the top 21 finishers.  The top five runners were under 22 minutes, an impressive showing on an extremely difficult 4-mile course at Beale’s Point at Folsom Lake. Cristian Morinico ran a 21:12 to finish on the heels of Butte’s Oscar Uribe, who blazed the course in 21:02.  Ken Parnow placed third with a 21:30 mark, and Jason Prado (21:52 time), Jason Engler (21:53), and Tim Martin (21:59) swept 6th, 7th, and 8th, respectively.  Other ARC runners finishing in the top third of the field were Jake Boeger (22:26), Aaron Dilts (22:44), Travis Davis (22:54), and Paul Magaletti (23:04).  Also racing for the Beavers were Ian Hecox (23:10), Vince Bardini (23:45), Graeme Sadler (25:01), and Ranjeet Anand (25:54).

Fresno Invitational

In what is becoming a tradition, the Beavers opened the season with an impressive showing at the Fresno Invitational.  For the third year in a row, the ARC men’s squad dominated the 4-mile course at Woodward Park to win the Northern California team championship after placing all five scoring runners in the top 41 places.  ARC finished third overall in the prestigious meet.  Freshman Cristian Morinico placed 8th overall with a time of 21:28, just three seconds ahead of another freshman, Ken Parnow, who placed 9th.  Also running well for the Beavers in their first race of the year were freshman Jason Engler (22:01, 28th place), sophomore Tim Martin (22:14, 35th), and freshmen Jason Prado (22:32, 41st).  Rounding out the top seven were freshman Paul Magaletti (who finished 57th) and sophomore Jake Boeger (60th).  Other runners competing for ARC were freshmen Aaron Dilts, Ranjeet Anand, Vince Bardini, and Graeme Sadler.
