The rebirth of the American
River
men’s water polo program is in the hands of Eric Black, who is
motivated to provide a year-round water polo program that is intense,
comprehensive, and provides a high level of accountability.
Before coming to ARC, Coach Black was the head coach at
Solano
College. During his seven-year run, he produced 11 All-Americans and
numerous all-conference selections. As a highly competitive and
hard-working teacher, Black has mentored young men who develop life
skills through the rigors of his program.
Black’s coaching resume also includes Coach of the Year honors at both
the high school and collegiate levels. As a USWP coach, he assisted
the LaMorinda Water Polo team to the 18-and-under national Junior
Olympics championship in 2000.
Black was an All-American water polo player at
DeAnza College in Cupertino,
received his bachelor’s degree from San Jose
State, and
a Master’s from St. Mary’s College. He is married to Bethani, the
women’s water polo coach at ARC, and they have two daughters.
