The Beavers
finished fourth in the meet at Delta, but Anne Scott led a
list of outstanding individual performances. Scott swam to
two new state records as she won all three of the individual
events in which she competed. Scott, who was named the Big
7 Performer of the Year, won the 50 free (23.32, a league
record), 100 free (50.78, now a state standard), and 200
free (1:51.11, also a state record). She earned the top
seed in all three events at the State Meet May 3-5 at Ohlone
College. Melissa Maestas qualified for the State Meet in
three events, all done with lifetime best marks: the 50
free (26.05), the 50 breast (32.93), and the 100 breast
(1:13.40). Rochelle Yomogida turned in a personal best in
the 50 free (26.63) and a season-best in the 50 back
(31.56); she also covered the 100 back in 1:09.12. Jessica
Williams had her lifetime best in the 100 back (1:09.61), a
season-best in the 500 free (6:08.9), and a 200 individual
medley time of 2:35.18. Ali Pierce also had an outstanding
meet, finishing with personal bests in the 100 fly (1:07.91)
and the 50 fly (30.88). Hadleigh West and Lauren Merrill
both earned evening swims and scored point in the 50 breast
and 100 free. In the relays, all five teams qualified for
the State Meet. The 200 free team of Scott, Pierce,
Yomogida, and Maestas finished third in the Big 7 with a
1:43.40 time. The foursome also placed third in the 400
medley relay with a 4:221.07 mark and fourth in the 200 MR
(1:58.40). ARC also qualified to compete in the 400 and 800
